We always see people
residing at the streets, near Temples, on the road side, public places, etc.
Who are they? Why they are there? What they don’t have home or what? And many
questions like that. We have Labors. Especially
in the metropolitan cities we had seen these peoples. They also suffered many
human trafficking, abuse, sometimes the administration also don’t help them as their
weak and poor. We have seen the immense
migration of people due to the urbanization. First of all what actually the
urbanization is. Why this is needed. Urbanization is the shift of rural people
to the urban areas which results in the gradual increase in the population. And
the urbanization is not only seen in the India, this is also seen in the world.
According to the report of United Nation till the end of 2008, half of the
world’s population will be urbanized. And as per the prediction by UN till
2050, 85% of the world population would be urbanized. Industrialization consist
of the modernization and the industrialization. And these both factors plays and
important role in the migration of the rural people to the urban people.
Talking about India only we have seen the tremendous urbanization in the last
10 years. Rural people they don’t even want to stay in villages now days. The
reality of current India is that everyone wants to make money, they are just
satisfying their needs and in all these they are finding the happiness.
The urbanization was
first accelerated after independence, when people started migrating from rural
to urban. After independence we experience the change in the economy. We were
facing poverty, unemployment and economic backwardness. The agricultural
contribution of India started decreasing but at the same time the growth of
metropolitan started. The period was the Industrial period. And at that time Maharashtra
was the most urbanized state. And Maharashtra that time had experienced great
urbanization. Peoples from different states came there in order to make money.
And most of them were from the rural area and started working there. There are
many reasons or causes for the urbanization of India. One of the reason is the
partition. The migration of people during the partition of India. The
Industrial Revolution had also played a major role in the urbanization.
The world was
changing and we were also required to change. So, government also considered
more on the development. They came up with 11 year plan that aim only in the
field of urbanization. Since, the period was Industrial period. Employment were
there, the industries were having the lack of employers, and this attracted the
rural areas, people of rural area. This was one of the major reason of shift.
India had rapid rise
in the population. And this lead to many problems such as increasing number of
slums. And hence, migration was result. People were more interested to shift to
the metropolitan cities. Due to urbanization many things were changed, market
were completely changed. People were more passionate of earning money so
illegal works started. Everyone were trying shortcuts.
And at last we are
seeing the change, now around 65% population are urbanized and this number is
increasing. No one now days wanted to work in rural areas, they all are
shifting to the cities which as a result increasing the population and
unemployment of that cities. In this government also plays a major role, first
the government should provide the proper awareness to the rural people. The
main reason for the farmer migration is because they are not getting the proper
money or profit for what they are doing. So, as a result they shifts to cities
in order to feed themselves. At last I would say that the rural people should
be provided with the correct awareness and government should also provide them
with the proper facilities. Basic requirements such as School and Medical
facilities should be proper. If they will get the proper resources in the rural
only, if they gets sufficient earnings for their hard work then definitely they
will not leave their homes in order to get the job in the cities.
